Yes We Can! LEGOS and other building materials will make this a fun week of exploration and construction. We'll discover lots of ways to create with your favorite building toys and make cool and creative projects with unusual materials such as tin can towers, soda pop sculptures and more.

The magic appears as we make our favorite stories come alive. Create costumes, props, and scenery so we can “act” out a different story each day for the camera. We will share some of our magical performances at week’s end on the big screen. DVDs may be ordered and picked up at the end of the following week of camp.

Create impressive drawings and paintings of animals, cartoons, still lifes, landscapes, people or abstract designs while you find special qualities about each material you try. Draw with pencils, pastels, inks, charcoal  & markers. Paint with tempera, watercolor & acrylics. This is an awesome opportunity for young, creative hearts and minds.

String art, shrinky dink, macramé and tie dye were popular ways to create totally fun items way back when, and they are still fun today!  Ask your grandparents and they can tell you how cool it was to create these retro crafts way back when. They may even have some to show you!

Get to know the art of Printmaking, an ancient tradition with modern applications. Carve and cut your own designs into a printing plate or block using traditional carving tools, then ink it up with colors of your choice and print your original piece of art work. Explore traditional printmaking techniques such as linoleum and woodblock cuts, and use the printing press in this camp.

Oh sure, you probably already know about printing with potatoes, but did you ever sort colors with cookies? Carve cantaloupe canoes or create cauliflower critters? Imagine the possibilities! You can play with your food in this camp, have a lot of fun and enjoy some simply spectacular snacks. (Please consider food allergies before signing up for this camp.)

Painting is as easy as 1, 2, 3, 4! Fun with watercolors, tempera, acrylics and oil paints. Work on various surfaces (paper, heavyweight illustration board, wood panels, canvas boards and stretched canvas). Specialty paints including metallic, iridescent, luminous, neon, texture, glitter and see-thru colors will add to the fun

If Indie or hippie inspired patterns appeal to you, this is your camp! Customize clothing, create artwork to declare your style and philosophy and have fun hanging out with fellow bohemians.

Experience the arts from all around the world by creating 2D and 3D projects. What makes art unique in different countries and cultures? Projects will be inspired by the arts of the USA, Italy, China, UK, Mexico and more!

Your favorite video game will be the inspiration for your unique, customized, way cool tabletop game. That's right, we are going back in time!  Create the playing surface, game pieces, accessories, prizes and rules to play and win by. Alternately, you may choose to make your own creative versions of more traditional games like chess, checkers, backgammon or candy land, etc. Use quality materials that will last for years of enjoyment and surprise your friends.

Create a short film and experience the thrill of writing, directing, acting and camera work. You will be a star on Friday when we watch ourselves perform in our very own TV show. Copies of a DVD can be purchased at the end of the course and picked up the following week.

Venture out and discover a beautiful site right here in our community! At Auburn Heights, steam cars and trains, landscapes and historic buildings will provide a variety of photographic opportunities. We will spend the entire day there on Tuesday and Thursday. Drop off and Pick up will be at Auburn Heights, just north on Rt. 82. You will get familiar with the basics of digital photography this week and put your skills to work!  Please bring your own camera and blank memory card daily. Laptops (with any photo viewer or editor) are welcome but not necessary.

Honor, strength and courage. Karate Kids Kamp is a fun-filled skill building week for boys and girls. No previous training is needed. Enjoy martial arts instruction along with physical fitness, personal safety, character education and related games and activities.

Learn how to develop your own comic book characters and build your design skills with techniques and processes used by real illustrators. Discuss and create your own comic book and comic strip this week.

Make an Impression! Discover a variety of printmaking techniques with amazing and sometimes unexpected results. Explore techniques like relief printing, monoprints, collography or printing with found objects. What do they have in common? Fun! Your designs on a printing "plate" will be inked up and printed. You may want to print a set of note cards for yourself or a gift.

Design and build your very own miniature dream house with clay. Even better than the seasonal gingerbread house, this is one you will want to have on display all year long!  Learn basic slab construction techniques while creating your house, complete with a removable roof. *$10 additional materials fee for this camp

Make art that is out of this world! Celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the very first orbit around the Earth with projects inspired by the spaceship, Friendship 7, splashdown and ticker tape parade.

Young actors will learn the art of acting as we focus on developing a believable performance. Campers will explore all aspects of a stage performance from vocal projection to stage movement, stage terminology and character development to interaction with others. Actors will memorize their roles from a short script that will be performed on stage for families and camp. Bravo, you stars of tomorrow!

Explore a variety of materials to create unique, 3-Dimensional art. Use traditional materials such as clay and paper mache',and explore other materials as wire, cardboard, fabric, nature items, and more. Students will learn how to manipulate and mold materials to model their ideas. Using diverse materials throughout the week, you will have a different 3D art experience each day so you can think outside the box of 3D design.

Honey I shrunk the Campers! On a manageable sized board, make your own 3-D mini skateboard park, innovative mini-mini golf course, mini maze, mini race track, mini bike trail, mini sports park, mini amusement park, crazy carnival or a miniature twisted circus.

You've seen flash mobs on YouTube but have you ever taken part in one? We'll spend the first few days developing the idea, then take a field trip Thursday to a local establishment where we will casually but ever so unexpectedly take over with singing and dancing. We will recreate the scene (or show the video) for the younger campers on Friday. Parents will need to provide offsite transportation or carpool on Thursday. Details will be provided on Monday.

Well, that's the magic of stage combat.  Actors and actresses learn tricks to make audiences believe they are sword fighting or punching or pushing or pulling or kicking and you will discover those secrets in this camp. All in good fun! Nobody gets hurt!

Choose from a variety of mosaic possibilities that can live indoors or outdoors long after camp ends. Design and assemble projects that might include planters, bird baths, name plaques, stepping stones, frames, mirrors, house numbers or mosaic pictures from tiny tiles or broken china. Once you know the process, you can do anything!  You will also participate in a colorful sculptural project that will remain at CCArts.

Ahoy ye lads and lasses! Make real working treasure maps, sail your own customized pirate ships and embellish a treasure chest. Get ready for a real outdoor treasure hunt and more swashbuckling fun!

Make useful or decorative objects with real clay, real pottery tools and the best tools of all, your hands!  Pottery handmade by you will have a special place in your home for years to come. All projects will be fired in the kiln and need to be picked up at a later date. Additional $10 materials fee for this camp.

You'll Go Bananas! These are one-of-a-kind creations with personality!  Bring 2 pair of clean, new socks or choose from our collection and create your unique sock monkey. (Best socks have heels and toes in contrasting colors.) The size of your monkey depends on the size of your socks. We may also create other sock monkey inspired art and accessories.

Bring one pair of plain white canvas shoes in your size to draw on and embellish. (White canvas shoes like Keds, Toms, Vans, Converse)  Use Sharpies to design and create one pair of shoes that uniquely represents your interests, personality or style and we'll provide a second pair that you will customize for charity. Wear your new creations out in the community and "walk in someone else's shoes" on Friday when we will deliver your creations and provide volunteer assistance to those less fortunate. You will earn service hours this week. Parent drivers will be needed to carpool. Details will be provided on Monday.

Read their stories and author your own, about you and your doll. Dress like your doll and we’ll have an American Girls party on Friday. (This is a wonderful complement to "American Girl Reality Theatre" Week 8PM.)

This is your chance to see how real crime scene investigators solve real crimes. Be a detective for a week! Figure out "who-dunnit?" by using Forensic Arts like fingerprint lifting, shoe-print casting and Jenna's favorite, crime scene photography!

Make faces in clay that is fired and glazed in bright or lifelike colors as you wish. You will take home one plaque, a portrait of yourself or a famous person, friend or family member. You will also make a second face that will be part of a collage of faces permanently installed on the walls at CCArts. All projects will be fired in the kiln and need to be picked up at a later date. Work with soft wood and metals using simple basic tools. You will safely learn the basics of working in 3D. Experience the magic of Harry and Hogwarts! Muggle or Magical, all are welcome to create projects inspired by J.K. Rowlings, beloved stories. Explore a wide variety of art materials and create magical masterpieces like a sorcerer's stone, magic potions, a Marauder's Map, wands, spell books, velvet pouches, crystal balls, dragons, wizards, witches or magic brooms, Brilliant!

Combine your love for fashion and art to design and create one-of-a-kind accessories you can actually use. Create your own handbag, iPod, cell phone and sunglass holders. We will make unique fashion t-shirts, hair pieces and clips, as many accessories as you can imagine. Use fabric and felt and decorate items with gems, lace, ribbon, fur, paint, buttons and more!

Young Sculptors will use food and other found objects to create sculptural art. Explore the possibilities way beyond simple potato heads. Use your imagination to create truly unique objects using vegetables, bread, citrus peels and who knows what else?

The art of acting and reacting is the key to outstanding drama. All aspects of stage acting will be covered as actors learn to create a believable performance in a popular scripted play. Make fun functional or sculptural objects with earthenware clay. Space is limited to allow each student maximum time on the potters wheel. Some time may also be spent on handbuilding. Make your own bird and life size launcher, targets and structures. We will take them outdoors to put them to work and hve a blast building walls and knocking them down.

Imagine YOU as the author of your own fantasy story like Harry Potter, Narnia or Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Learn how fantasy writers make their own books come to life. Write about wizards, fairies, dragons and your own made-up characters and lands. If you have a good imagination, this is your camp!

"Find the funny" - Humor is a learned art. Our comedic talents will discover the "funny" in creating sketches, improvisation and stand-up. Timing is everything, as well as knowing how to get the laughs. Campers and families will have a hilarious time as we perform on Friday. DVDs of our comedy performances can be purchased at the end of the camp and picked up the following week. 

Plan a party for up to 10 guests! During the week, you will create your own mask and invitations, decorate the auditorium, make party favors, and plan food and entertainment. You and your guests will return on Friday evening when the real party will take place! Wear your mask and have fun discovering who you know as guests arrive in disguise. All ARTScetera 2013 students are invited as well.

This is going to be a fun way to discover how artists capture not only the way a person looks, but a little something about their personality. Envelop yourself in the art world as you create artwork modeled after the masters, but with a twist.

What kind of art projects do you love the most? You name it, chances are Mr. Bruce can make it possible for you this week. Paint, draw, cartoon, collage, sculpt and most o fall have a blast exploring the wide variety of materials available.

We have saved the best for last! We are eagerly awaiting the next Hunger Games movie, "Mockingjay" to be released this fall, and know you are as well. Celebrate the Hunger Games series with some creative projects and games of your own. Not to worry! All the "Victors" are expected to go home happy at the end of camp and no one will go hungry!
