  • Paint a Mural for Hockessin Library

    This is a unique opportunity for teens who would like a creative alternative to performing community service. CCArts teamed with the Hockessin Public Library to offer a class in which teenagers will be designing and painting a large scale mural to be placed inside the library’s teen section on a permanent basis. This class is free and will allow participants to document community service requirements for high school graduation. Classes will run at CCArts Campus and while class is free of charge, registration with CCArts is required and regular attendance is expected.

  • Capture Summer in Clay Tiles
    Course Number: SP15MT101

    Create a set of four beautiful clay tiles using flowers, leaves, and stems as design elements. In this collaboration between the Center for the Creative Arts and Mt. Cuba Center, explore Mt. Cuba’s delightful native plant garden, collect materials, and enjoy your picnic lunch in a shaded woodland. Bring collected plant material to CCArts to make tiles from clay using a slab roller. Incorporate collected plant material into your design. Your handmade tiles become lasting reminders of summer’s beauty. Pick up your fired tiles from the CCArts one week later. Bring your lunch and be prepared to walk outdoors.

  • Home School Comes Alive with Children Theatre/Shakespeare Edition
    Course Number: SP15HS101
    Ages: 8 - 15

    For the Shakespeare buff or novice this is a fun yet educational program as we make history come alive through performance of a Shakespeare classic. This truly unique course is especially designed for the home-­schooled that incorporates history, literature, and performance. A classic Shakespearean play will be interpreted and performed as students discuss the playwright and the time in which he lived. History comes alive as students create and act out their interpretation of imaginary and real characters during that time period. Students will also learn performance skills as they practice techniques for stage acting along with the wonderful experience of performing an adaptation of one of Shakespeare’s classic plays. Plays under consideration are Julius Caesar, Twelve Night, Romeo & Juliet, As You like It or special scenes and monologues­ each classic play selection is based on the special interests, experience, and studies of the class. A fully staged performance (abridged adaptation) will be presented for family and friends at the conclusion of this course. “All the World’s A Stage” – a wonderful introduction to the Bard.

  • Saturday Children’s Theatre: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

    CCArts Saturday Children’s Theatre proudly announces its Spring Production of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory based on Roald Dahl’s beloved story. The story features the adventures of young Charlie Bucket and all the other golden ticket winners inside the chocolate factory of eccentric chocolatier Willy Wonka. All the colorful characters appear in this play version including spoiled Veruca Salt, gum chewing Violet Beauregarde, TV loving Mike Teavee, greedy Augustus Gloop, and all their well­ meaning parents. Also, our fun Oompa­Loompas add to the well rounded cast. Colorful and imaginative sets will be created to add to the flavor of this chocolatey delight.Auditions will be held during the first class and all those auditioning will be cast. Additional rehearsals may be added at the Director’s discretion. Weekly rehearsals conclude with a ticketed matinee show on Saturday, April 18th through June 13th. A staged ticketed performance will be presented at 2 pm on Saturday, June 13th.
