  • CCArts Getaways: Van Gogh Up Close at the Philadelphia Art Museum
    Course Number:
    Ages: Adult

    See this blockbuster exhibition among friends in a private docent led tour of "some of the most daring and innovative works Vincenet van Gogh ever created. Van Gogh's passionate experimentation and zeal for the natural world are reflected in more than forty close-ups of landscapes, flowers, and still lifes painted during the final five years of the artist's turbulent life." This is the only exhibition of these works shown together in the United States. Meander the museum and enjoy lunch on your own before visiting "Dream garden" the Tiffany glass mosaic designed by Maxfield Parrish at the Curtis Center. Bus transportation and tours are included. Lunch is on your own. Board the bus at CCArts at 8:30am and plan to return by 4:30pm. For a preview of Van Gogh's life and art, please attend the Free Valentines Day Video Marathon Feb. 14.

    You'll Fall in love all over again with this clever, modern and exciting stage version of Dorothy and Toto's adventures in the wonderful land of Oz. This is the classic enchanting tale, adapted from the story by L. Frank Baum. Terrific fun! Up to 17 young actors are needed to tell this tale. Additional rehearsals may be added We. 3/21 and 3/28 at the Director's discretion. There will be a mandatory dress rehearsal Friday 3/30, 6:00-9:00pm. Weekly rehearsals conclude with a full length ticketed matinee show on March 31, 2pm in which every actor will play an important role.

  • Spring Break Art Camp 2012-Pennsylvania Public Schools
    Course Number:
    Ages: 1st-5th graders

    Take an imaginary trip around the world with two of your favorite summer camp teachers, Kristen Margiotta and Jennifer Domal. Visit a diffrent country each day of the week, making cultural and historical connections along the way. Explore customs and create unique art in the tradition of each country using a variety of media. Spend half the day making inspired pottery and the other half creating other traditional artforms. Last years' travelers created miniature skeletal figures in honor of Mexico's Dia de Los Muertos traditions and Impressionist artwork inspired by French masters. Your 2012 itinerary: Monday, Spain; Tuesday, the United States; Wednesday, Africa; Thursday, Italy; Friday, Asia. Travelers who plan to take the entire trip will enjoy a discounted fare, or you may customize your creative stay-cation for as many days as you like. A minimum number of students must be registered by March 12 to ensure the success of Spring Break Art Camp. Supervised Lunch Care provided. Please bring your own lunch.
